Ending Employment
Deciding to Leave
While we hope MCO is your forever home, life circumstances can sometimes change. In other cases, you may find that MCO is just not the right fit for you, and that is okay. We want everyone on the team to be fully behind our mission. In these times, it is our goal to facilitate a smooth transition from employment.
Best Practices
We strongly advocate the following for those choosing to exit MCO:
- Support Staff should plan to provide 30 days notice at a minimum when choosing to depart.
- Clinical Staff should refer to the conditions set forth in their employment contract. Contracts will specify the process the employee has agreed to, in writing, regarding the decision to leave the company. It is typically 90 days
Clinical Staff members should be aware of the significant investment MCO has made in both their development as a skilled therapist and in building a caseload. The company both expects and will enforce the agreed-upon conditions for the separation from employment set forth in the employee’s contract.
Process Part 1 – Both Support & Clinical Staff
- The employee will inform their direct supervisor of their intent to separate from employment with MCO.
- Fill out the Separation From Employment Form, which will be sent by contacting the Life @ MCO Department.
Process Part 2 – Support Staff
- Life @ MCO Department will direct the separation process both planning and communication. They will serve as employee’s primary contact in the separation process.
- Direct Supervisor will arrange for the transition of tasks and responsibilities.
- The employee will inform their process group of their upcoming departure.
- Accounting Department will contact employee with details regarding final compensation. Employees will retain access to their GUSTO account even after ending employment with MCO, allowing for the retrieval of pay stubs and other documents.
- Life @ MCO completes exit interview.
- HR Department will arrange the return of MCO property, including keys to MCO offices.
- IT Department will arrange to collect any MCO equipment.
- IT Department will suspend employee access to all MCO accounts by the end of the business day on final day.
Process Part 2 – Clinical Staff
- Life @ MCO Department will direct the separation process both planning and communication. They will serve as employee’s primary contact in the separation process.
- Clinical Services Department will close the clinician’s schedule for receiving new clients.
- Clinical Services Department will end external supervision contracts when external supervisor is being utilized.
- Clinical Supervisor and Guide will work with the clinician to determine both the timing and script for beginning to inform clients of departure. A client list will be created to track progress, as well as, best fit MCO therapists to transfer clients to.
- Clinical Supervisors will assign completion of client transition notes to be completed by the exiting therapist to aid the new therapist in transitioning the case.
- Marketing Department will remove clinician from any MCO platforms or content.
- The employee will inform their process group of their upcoming departure.
